Nyman’s surprsise victory on the Saslong

Until today an American had never won on the Saslong. This year both races were won by skiers from team USA. After Bode Miller’s victory in the Super-G, Steven Nyman surprised everyone by winning the Downhill.

Nobody bet on Nyman. The American managed to keep just ahead of Swiss Didier Cuche who had dominated both training runs (+0.02 seconds). The Austrian Fritz Strobl took third place, nevertheless the Austrian team is still waiting for their first win of this season. Kurt Sulzenbacher was the best placed Italian skier in 12th position.
