No Training on Thursday, Downhill on Friday

The second training run originally scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, has been cancelled after today’s first training run for the World Cup Downhill to give the track a rest ahead of the races on Friday (Downhill) and Saturday (Super-G).

Longer jumps, a slightly modified course line and an extremely bumpy Ciaslat: today’s first training run has shown that the Saslong poses an extreme challenge for the racers this year. the The 2014 edition of the World Cup races in the Val Gardena/Gröden pose a hard task for the organizers and the FIS. The track has practically been created in three nights and the snow layer is relatively thin, particularly in the lower sections of the course. FIS decided to cancel tomorrow’s training run to give the course a rest.

We’ll continue on Friday with the men’s Downhill and the Super-G on Saturday, both starting at 12:15 pm.
