Walchhofer: A gold long overdue
Prodigious Austrian skier Michael Walchhofer captured gold at the thrilling FIS Ski World Cup Downhill race in Gardena-Gröden. After placing second for four times here in Gardena-Gröden it was time to bring home the gold ahead of an extraordinary Didier Cuche (+0.18) and American Scott Macartney (+0.56).
Walchhofer is overcome with joy: “I finally managed to claim victory. I fought like a lion under the pressure from the Austrian media and it paid off.
