Bedrac: “Fascinated by the Saslong”

Gorazd Bedrac from Slovenia is the FIS Technical Delegate for both World Cup races on the Saslong. He skied the Camel Humps as a forerunner more than 35 years ago and has held a fascination for the speed track at the feet of the Langkofel mountain ever since.

Mr. Bedrac was the FIS Technical Delegate also in 2005 and almost feels at home here in Gardena-Gröden. He is originally from Maribor where he is also the President of the Ski Club Barnik. He has been a Race Director for 17 years and competed professionally with some success in the early `70ies. “I placed best in the Giant Slalom in Adelboden, but I also have a very clear memory of my run as a forerunner on the Saslong” says Mr. Bedrac. “There have been some changes to the course since my start as a forerunner almost 40 years ago, but the key sections have stayed the same: Ciaslat and Camel Humps.”

Asked on his opinion on the athletes from his home country, Mr. Bedrac has clear views: “There aren’t any top athletes such as Bojan Krizaj, but Jerman is a good skier and also Ales Gorza is worth watching. The potential is here, now they have to capitalize on it!
