The other Italians: “We are in Gardena-Gröden to show what we can do”
The other Italian athletes also promise to go full throttle. Christof Innerhofer knows that he will have to give it all: “The Super-G is more important to me but I will push for both races.”
This athlete originally from nearby Gais has to overcome some challenges: “I have difficulties to ski my best in rugged areas and I have to improve my gliding.” Stefan Thanei likes the course: “There are many bends on this course and you are out of the game if you lose speed.” Elmar Hofer admits he had a few problems: “More than anything else I have to push very hard, but you can really learn a lot on the Saslong.” Walter Girardi is suffering from a back ache but he does not want to give up: “I don’t think I will race the Downhill. I’d rather maximize my changes in the Super-G which is why I will give it all tomorrow.” Aronne Pieruz is one of the younger ones: “I am here primarily to build experience but I would like to place among the top 30. The course? It’s awesome.” As for Kurt Sulzenbacher, his staff confirmed that the season is practically over for him due to an injury.
