The traditional excursion with the winning World Cup Fan Club took place this past weekend. The “Silvan Zurbriggen” Fan Club prevailed with an impressive performance against a strong European Fan Club field this winter.
It redeemed its first prize - a hike throughout the Dolomites - this September 8th.
Ginni Tschurtschenthaler and World Cup Committee representative Günter Comploj lead our Swiss guests to the newly-built funicular railway Rasciesa/Raschötz. The group first hiked to the shelter restaurant Raschötz and continued from there to the summit cross. The Valaisian were impressed by the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains: “It truly is unique” said Fan Club Leader Michael Cathrein, who clearly was enjoying his time in Gardena/Gröden. The group returned to the funicular's mountain station restaurant for lunch and then descended to the town center of Ortisei/St.Ulrich for some sightseeing. The day concluded with a cozy dinner at the “La Tambra” restaurant in St.Christina. “We had a lot of fun and the atmosphere was great” the Zurbriggen fans added unanimously before turning in for the night at “Garni Marina”.
The Fan Club started on their homeward journey on Sunday after a fun and entertaining weekend in the Dolomites. The club confirmed their return for the upcoming World Cup race along with its 30 members to support their favorite and 2010 Downhill winner Silvan Zurbriggen and all other athletes competing on the Saslong.
The Fan Club outing has been hosted for the last four years and is financially supported by Val Gardena-Gröden Marketing.
