Following the complex and cost-intensive modernization of the Salsong over the last few years, this year the technical team started with reconditioning the course after heavy rain falls in June.
They then proceeded to refine the details of the safety configuration. The widening of the course has lead to more spacious safety zones and safer jumps. The safety nets have been renewed and comply with the current standards of the International Ski Federation FIS. These precautions allow athletes minor mistakes as they feel safer on the course. Over the last few years, the Saslong has become one of the safest and most modern courses of the entire Ski World Cup circuit. “We have invested about 1.5 million Euro over the last ten years. World Cup Gardena-Gröden has always been very active and attentive to abide to the newest safety requirement.” states Race Director Rainer Senoner, adding: “ This will also benefit the winter tourists who want to feel that extra thrill by skiing one of the most famous courses in the world.
