Marzola Prize stays in Italy

The 2014 Gianni Marzola Prize goes to Emanuele Buzzi. The 20-year-old Italian is the youngest participant in this year’s World Cup races on the Saslong placing 50th in the Downhill. Gianni Marzola’s widow Karen awarded the Euro 1,500 prize to Buzzi.

Gianni Marzola was a great supporter of the ski sport in Val Gardena/Gröden. Since 2002, his life his honored with this prize that is named after him. The Marzola Prize always goes to the youngest participant in both World Cup races on the Saslong and is endowed with Euro 1,500.

This year, the prize will remain in Italy: the youngest participant in this year’s World Cup races is 20-year old Emanuele Buzzi from Sappada, a German enclave close to the city of Belluno in Italy’s North East. Buzzi is member of the Fiamme Gialle, which is the sports group associated with the forest police and yesterday was his first ever World Cup race. The highlight of his career so far was a sixth place in the Junior World Championships Super Combi this year.
