The Saslong is already very powerful
That is what FIS Race Director Hannes Trinkl said today once he completed a throw check less than 24 hours after leaving Beaver Creek in the US and after the official sign-off by the FIS on Saturday. “I got a very positive impression.
The Saslong is already very powerful” says the 1998 Nagano Olympic Bronze Medalist. “The racing line is covered with plenty of snow while the safety zones still have to be filled out.”
Course Director Horst Demetz, who has performed an outstanding job in the last few days added the following: “We have a rough profile and already prepared several heaps of snow that we can, if necessary, spread along the course.”
The Saslong will be closed for recreational skiers at 4 pm on Sunday. “That is when we can work on the finishing touches, the jumps and waves, as well as prepare the steep section and fine-tune the gliding part.”
Until then, many helpers have to mount the 12 km B-type FIS safety nets.Â
“Teams start arriving on Monday.” explains Race Director Rainer Senoner. “That is when TV production is also reviewing the 24 camera positions along the Saslong.”
This year, a new camera crane has been set up at the Nucia section, right at the top of the Finish Schuss. This will provide even more spectacular video feeds for audiences of both the Super-G and the Downhill.Â
