TV- audience rating record
Val Gardena’s world cup downhill on the Saslong slope registrated in Germany an official audience rating of 2,7 million people.
The world cup competitions in Kitzbuehel, on the other hand, had been watched by 2,3 million Germans on the public channels ZDF and ARD. This was confirmed by statistical surveys made by “IFM Medienanalysen Karlsruhe” on behalf of the FIS world cup speed-events 2003/04.
Saslong Classic Club vice-president Edmund Dellago’s account for the great ratings is due to the imminent Christmas festivities and the increasing expectations on behalf of the race after last years’ obliged cancellations. Compared to 2002, the Saslong downhill-competition increased its TV audience in Germany with 46% spectators more. Only women’s SuperG in Haus im Ennstal (Austria) had a better audience rating in Germany with 3,1 million spectators.
On the Austrian public TV broadcasting Val Gardena’s downhill race has been “beaten” only by the downhill on the legendary “Streif” in Kitzbuehel.
