The winner of the first of the two Val Gardena runs in 1993 is still remembered today: Markus Forser from Liechtenstein won the race with a high starting number (66). The twenty-one year old Austrian, Franz Werner, placed himself second behind Forser.

In 1998 Franz achieved two further podium positions in Val Gardena. In the first run Franz took second place, in the second run third place.
