Gardena-Gröden to Carry Out Two Races in 2006-07

In the World Cup season 2006-2007 Val Gardena will organize two World Cup races. This has been decided during the 45th FIS Congress in Vilamoura, Portugal.

On 15th and 16th December a Super G and a Downhill are scheduled. In nearby Alta Badia a Giant Slalom and a Slalom will take place on 17th and 18th December. The novelty is the Slalom in Alta Badia on Monday.

„We managed to link the 40-year-old tradition with the necessary innovation“, the Val Gardena OC president Stefania Demetz says. „We did our best to improve the race organisation and to do even more for our spectators“. Thus for the first time South Tyrol sees a race week-end with all of the four disciplines, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G and Downhill. The Val Gardena and Alta Badia OCs are considering creating an own combination for these four races. Marcello Varallo, the Alta Badia OC president, is utterly satisfied: “FIS awarded our efforts in the past years granting us an additional race.”
