Champions celebrate in Gröden / Val Gardena

The World Cup winners have landed in the valley...
...After a convivial evening on the Comici Lodge last night, champions are following a dense program today.
The official part of the 40 Years FIS Ski World Cup celebration kicked off with yesterday’s cocktails at Hotel Gran Baita and a dinner on the Comici Lodge. World Cup champions Peter Lüscher (1979), Michel Jacot-Henry (1970), Paul Accola (1992), Michela Figini (1988), Hanny Wenzel-Weirather (1978, 1980), Andy Wenzel (1980), Erika Reymond-Hess (1982, 1984), Piero Gros (1974), Tamara Mc Kinney (1983, 1985) and Gustav Thöni (1971m 1972, 1973, 1975) have already arrived. In addition, other great ski athletes such as Bojan Krijai, Franz Heinzer, Roland Colombin, Günther Mader, Max Rauffer, Markus Wasmeier and Bernhard Russi have been sighted.
Today, the former Ski champions are being lead by local ski notables Peter Runggaldier and Eberhard Schmalzl across the Gröden / Val Gardena slopes. Afterwards, they will follow the 12.15 pm start of the Super G from the Saslong Stadium. In the afternoon, the champions will award the winning artists of the snow sculpturing competition followed by the celebration in St. Ulrich / Ortisei where champions will take part in an autograph session.
