Start List, Well Wishes and „Climbing Ban”
Mrs. Demetz, head of the OC, welcomed all teams and specifically voiced her regrets to Aksel Lund Svindal’s severe injuries which lead to taking the Norwegian team out of the race. “ We all wish Svidal a speedy recovery and regret that he can not be with us this week. As a consolation price he is gracing our official posters”, thus Mrs. Demetz.
FIS Race Director Mr. Hujara thanks the organizers for the great cooperation. “Keep in mind that 1 million euros have been spent in safety precautions at the finish area last year”, so Mr. Hujara.
The Race Director indicated that Super-G skiers can take part in the inspection. “Inspection stands for inspection, nothing else” says Mr. Hujara pointing to possible penalties for those Super-G skiers who might be tempted to turn the inspection into a training run. Mr. Hujara also advised the teams that both back protectors as well as the ad sizes on the helmets will be checked.
Saslong Race Director Rainer Senoner states that the inspection points need to be on the ground and cannot be mounted on trees. Mr. Hujara adds that the “climbing-ban” also applies to all things vertical including the security net pylons. Teams will train on several Ciampinoi and Dantercepies slopes in the coming days.
The last point of the Team Captain Meeting was the starting number lottery for tomorrow’s training run, conducted by Technical Delegate Thomas Gurzeler.
