The American Steve Nyman, winner of last year’s Downhill is full of confidence. “There is a new jump at the Final Schuss and the last turn is narrower and steep. Fast skis will be key to place on the podium â€" as well as a good entry into Ciaslat. I will try to stick to my line and not loose speed.â€

Didier Defago, another motivated athlete: “I can’t deny that I hope to win. I will give it all. The Swiss team has developed and we have been working with the same team for the last four years. I personally think to have better odds at the Super-G than at the Downhill.

Austrian skier Hannes Reichelt shows confidence: “The slope is well prepared. As always, key point is the Ciaslat section. The contestants are many and fast skies will make the difference.â€

Kristian Ghedina was there this morning at the first inspection on the Saslong. He wanted to strap on his racing skis: “This is my home course, everybody knows it. I’ve only skied once this year but I am dying to check out the course. Starting as a fore-runner would suffice. The Camel Humps are similar to last year’s and have to be taken on with determination and power. The favorites? Well, the Austrians, Swiss and Italians. If I had to pick I’ll go with Walchhofer.â€
