Second training run: Ciaslat is key
Mastering the entry into Ciaslat section was crucial in today’s second day of training on the Saslong course. Several skiers missed a gate.
A faster course and a more demanding entry into the Ciaslat – these are the two salient messages from the racers at the end of today’s second training run. Guillermo Fayed, 22-year-old French skier came to fall, thankfully without major consequences. Eric Guay clocked the best time and proved to feel at home on the Saslong. He was over 7/100 ahead of second placed Didier Cuche and almost 1 second ahead of Michael Walchhofer (who won the first training run) and Bode Miller (placing third ex-equo). Other highlights are Andrej Jerman (6th), Kurt Sulzenbacher (7th), Didier Defago (8th), “Herminator” Maier (9th) and Marco Buechel (11th). Among the Italian skiers and in addition to “Sulzi” are Patrick Staudacher (19th), Werner Heel (23rd) and Silvano Varettoni (27th). Also-rans are Peter Fill (32nd), Roland Fischnaller (37th), Walter Girardi (40th), Christof Innerhofer (48th) and Stefan Thanei (49th).
