Local favourites: Sulzi most promising
All eyes are on local favourites Kurt “Sulzi” Sulzenbacher, the only South Tyrolean with a podium history on the Saslong placing 3rd behind Kristian Ghedina and Lasse Kjus in 2001.
Sulzenbacher has accumulated several good placings on the Saslong course. In addition to his result in 2001, he placed 10th in 2004 and 15th the year prior. This season Sulzenbacher has already skied at 4th rank in Lake Louise and clocked 2nd best time in this year’s first training run.
Other South-Tyrol-natives starting today include Werner Heel (3), Peter Fill (18), Patrick Staudacher (27), Walter Girardi (35), Roland Fischnaller (43) and Christof Innerhofer (51). Both Heel and Staudacher are also capable of good placings.
