Austria and Switzerland are leading the ranking
Nations Ranking: In the Downhill, Austria is leading the ranking with 17 victories, followed by Switzerland with 13 and Italy with five victories.
Next are Norway and France with each three, Canada and Lichtenstein with two each and Germany and the USA with one victory each. In Super G competition, Switzerland is ahead with three victories followed by Austria with two, Norway, the USA and Italy with one each.
Super-G: There are eight athletes who brought home the gold: Pirmin Zurbriggen (1983), Didier Defago (2002) and Didier Cuche (2007) from Switzerland, Lasse Kjus (2003) from Norway, Olympic silver medalist Michael Walchhofer (2004) and Hans Grugger (2005) from Austria, Bode Miller from the USA (2006) and Werner Heel from Italy (2008).
Double Victories: Michael Walchhofer is only the third athlete to win both the Downhill and the Super-G on the Saslong. In 2007 the Austrian finally captured the Downhill gold which so long eluded him after winning the Super-G in 2004. The other two double winners are Pirmin Zurbriggen and Lasse Kjus. The World Cup, Olympic and World Champion from Switzerland won the Super-G in 1983 and the Downhill in 1989. The Norwegian World Cup, Olympic winner and World Champion has won the Downhill in 1998 and the Super-G in 2003.
