The first athlete to test the Saslong was Super-G Silver World Champion Peter Fill on Thursday – but just for recreation. “Skiing is a very important part of my recovery“ says...

...the South Tyrolean all-rounder from nearby Castelrotto-Kastelruth. Peter injured his adductor and stomach muscles during the summer training in Argentina three months ago and was later operated in Finland. “He was on the course all day long” explains Race Director Rainer Senoner. “I’m improving on a daily basis” adds the Silver World Champion. He also likes to ice-skate to stay fit. A few days ago Peter was spotted playing hockey with a few children at the ice stadium in Ortisei-St.Ulrich.

The original plan was to for the Italian national team to train on the Saslong but at the last minute the head coach decided to give the team a break after their return from North America and to reconvene in Val d’Isère where World Cup races will be taking place this weekend.
