The Slovenian was unanimously elected at the FIS Congress in Antalya
Srecko Medven, the Secretary General of the World Cup Kranjska Gora has become the new president of the Club5. Medven was unanimously elected by all 13 members at the FIS Congress in Antalya (Turkey).
The Slovenian superseded the Head of the OC from Wengen, Mr. Viktor Gertsch, who has been the President for the last six years and was named to be the Honorary President.
Srecko Medven is 55 years old. He has been a member of the Kranjska Gora Organizing Committee and the Secretary General since 1996. The last four years he was the Vice President of the Club5.
"The aim of the association is to enhance the competitive alpine skiing, rise the quality of the events, improve the marketing options and find uniform solutions within the organization, so that we can constantly improve our existing product.„, says Medven. "We will furthermore strive for a good mutual agreement with the FIS and national associations. That concerns primarily the technical issues of the World Cup"‚ added Medven. .
Club5 was established in 1986. The five classis downhill- races in Alpine skiing: Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch, Gröden and Val d‚Isère were joined under the same general term and marketed together. The additional plan was to provide better a media coverage of the high quality of these events. Through the years, other members have joined the organization. Today, it consists of 14 members, organizers of the World Cup events: Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch, Val d‚Isère, Gardena-Gröden, Alta Badia, Cortina, Kranjska Gora, Maribor, Lake Louise, Schladming, Adelboden, Kvitfjell and St.Moritz, which was accepted at the conference in Antalya as the 14th member of the Club5.
The new President will be assisted by three Vice Presidents, Mr. Peter Fischer from Garmisch, Mr. Peter Willen from Adelboden and Ms Stefania Demetz from Gardena-Gröden. Secretary General is Hannes Huter from Kitzbühel.
