292 million viewers have followed the races in 2009
Last year, the broadcast of the World Cup races in Gardena-Gröden and Alta Badia has reached absolute record numbers in terms of worldwide viewership.
The TV agency Infront Sports & Media has analyzed broadcasting periods, viewerships as well as market penetration of all programming related to the World Cup in Gardena-Gröden and Alta Badia. According to the study, the Super-G, Downhill and Giant Slalom were followed by 292 million viewers over 159 hours. Eurosport alone has broadcast in 59 countries in 20 different languages.
The market penetration analysis
is particularly interesting. 25% of viewers in Germany have followed the live broadcast of the Downhill race on the public channel ZDF. The highest market penetration for this race has been recorded in Croatia with almost 42%, followed by Austria with 32%, Slovenia, Switzerland and Sweden with 24-25% and Russia with 23%.
The Giant Slalom in Alta Badia reached a market share of 35% in Croatia, 32% in Austria, 24% in Slovenia and 25% in Switzerland. Overall, the highest market share has been reached in Denmark with 38% following the Slalom race.
