34 athletes from nine nations have won Downhill races. This includes winners of multiple races such as...

 Kristian Ghedina, Franz Klammer, Antoine Deneriaz, Michael Walchhofer, Peter Müller, Rob Boyd and Helmuth Höflehner. 2004 saw the first German victory with Max Rauffer climbing on the highest podium. In 2005 it was Marco Büchel from Lichtenstein to win his first Downhill on a shortened course and in 2006 it was Steven Nymann from USA. Michael Walchhofer from Austria won back-to-back in 2007 and 2008. Manuel Osborne-Paradis from Canada won for the first time in 2009 and in 2010 Silvan Zurbriggen’s win finally put an end to the 18-year-long victory draught for Switzerland.

The last Italian to take home the gold medal on Saslong was Kristian Ghedina who celebrated his fourth victory in 2001 equaling Franz Klammer.
