The FIS-imposed snow check for the World Cup races in Gardena/Gröden originally planned for Saturday, December 3 has been...
postponed to Monday, December 5. This has been communicated by FIS.
“FIS Race Director Helmut Schmalzl will render his opinion on the snow conditions of the Saslong upon his return from Beaver Creek (USA) where World Cup races are taking place this weekend.” explains OC Race Director Rainer Senoner.
“About 85% of the course is covered in snow. We need another two or three cold nights with freezing temperatures to guarantee the appropriate amount of snow for the course and all safety zones.” adds Mr. Senoner.
Usually, the FIS snow check for speed disciplines such as Super-G and Downhill is scheduled ten days ahead of the first training run, which in this case is scheduled for Wednesday, December 14.
The World Cup Super-G is scheduled for Thursday, December 16 and the Downhill for Saturday, December 17.
