The Saslong on TV: 19 channels transmitting live
Nearly 300 million people followed the two World Cup races live on TV in 2010. This year it will most likely be even more, as the Italian state TV RAI has vastly increased its TV presence around the Val Gardena/ Gröden World Cup races.
Already this evening (Thursday), RAI Sport 1 (channel 57, digital-terrestrial) will be transmitting live from Val Gardena/ Gröden from 10 p.m. onwards. In a half-hour broadcast, transmitted directly from the studio situated in the finish area, the races will be presented and a summary of the second training run relayed. The studio in the finish area will also be at the centre of the news coverage during both races: Before and after the race TV presenter Ivana Vaccari will invite guests to the live show and the races will of course be transmitted live.
RAI is only one of 19 channels broadcasting the Val Gardena/Gröden World Cup races live. Even Eurosport, Swiss TV SF2, the German channel ZDF and the Austrian ORF will be broadcasting directly from the Saslong. Already at 12.10 today Eurosport will transmit the second training run live.
In total 45 TV stations will be present in Val Gardena\Gröden this year and about 300 media representatives from all over the world are working at the press centre.
