Stefania Demetz: An extraordinary Team won on the Saslong Today
The snow tried to cancel it, and then the fog but at the end our determination won out. The conviction and will from the Jury, the Organizing Committee and the large number of dedicated course preparation team members and the entire staff, the athletes and even the audience at the Finish; everyone wanted this 45th edition of the classic World Cup race on the Saslong to take place. But despite all these difficulties, the race went on.
“I can attest that this was the hardest-fought ever edition since I work full-time for this organization.” says a pleased Stefania Demetz, General Manager of Saslong Classic Club. “We have concluded these two extraordinary days because of the help of our course crew. And as is custom in the World Cup, the Jury, the coaches and the Organizing Committee have worked together towards one goal. Everyone pitched in because we all wanted this race to take place.”
The work on the run was exceptional.
“The crew on the course and at the Finish has worked themselves to the bone since 5:30 am in the morning. They are the true winners of today’s race.”
What the athletes had to say?
“Following many athletes on twitter I sensed their enthusiasm. They feel very welcome in Gardena/Gröden, they feel at home here. For this I’m very pleased.”
