FIS On-site Inspection in Val Gardena/ Gröden
With almost five months to go to the Workd Cup races, the International Ski Federation FIS has performed an on-site inspection of the Saslong course in Val Gardena/Gröden. Race Directors Markus Waldner, Helmuth Schmalzl and Hannes Trinkl along with Technicians of the Saslong Classic Club including...
Race Director Rainer Senoner and Course Director Horst Demetz discussed safety aspects as well as details on the two races of this past season. Goal is to prepare the course and make it safer and more spectacular for both racers and spectators alike.
The inspection was also joined by responsibles of the TV production company Infront including Director Sandro De Manicoe and subject expert Michele Boniello. Their main concern was to identify the most appealing camera positionings for the two speed events scheduled for December. "We want to bring the audience even closer to the action on the course" explains Director De Manicor who is planning 23 TV cameras for the broadcast of the competitions. As Val Gardena/Gröden Race Director Rainer Senoner points out, the continuous improvements are turning the Saslong into a "highly modern course" that is safe and spectacular offering course setters plenty of creativity in flagging the course.
The World Cup races in Val Gardena/Gröden are scheduled for December 19th and 20th, 2014. The Super-G is on Friday, the Downhill on Saturday.
