Rainer Senoner is the new president of the Saslong Classic Club, host of the World Cup races in Val Gardena. The 49-year-old from Selva/Wolkenstein, was elected unanimously yesterday at the General Assembly of the committee.

Mr. Senoner, who has been Vice President since 2004 and Race Director of the Saslong Classic Club since 1999 assumes the office of Edmund Dellago, who led the club for eight years.

"I am aware that this is a difficult legacy," the newly elected president says. "It is therefore a large, but also exciting challenge to lead our traditional club in the future." Mr. Senoner thanked his predecessors, Edmund Dellago and Erich Demetz, who achieved great things both for the club, as well as for Val Gardena/Gröden. "I'll continue this office to the best of my knowledge and belief".

In his farewell speech, the outgoing president Edmund Dellago, who has been working for winter sports in Val Gardena/Gröden for over 50 years, thanked all employees, collaborators and institutions who have contributed to the success of the international event in recent decades. "I wish my successor every success, fortitude and a good hand in making decisions and a collegial and harmonious continuation of the team," said Mr. Dellago.
