News from the course: Start moved, entrance Ciaslat broadened

The starting area of the Saslong downhill has been moved. This year the start will not take place from the wooden starting hut at the top of the chairlift as it used to. It will be a few meters above the starting hut on the left looking up, at the top of the gondola. The start has been moved for TV in order to offer better pictures.
During their inspection in spring the FIS officials have designed a long bend at the looping in order to keep the race fast.

The icy Sochers walls will be quite a challenge this year as well, as they are decisive for the entrance into the Kamelbuckel.

The part of the course between the Kamelbuckel and Ciaslat has been broadened by about 30 m under the supervision of the International Ski Federation.

During summer the people in charge of the course tried to smoothen the natural soil characteristics of the Ciaslat meadows even more.

In October 25 % of the safety nets were renewed. Altogether the Saslong now has over 6.5km of A and B safety nets. In 1988 it only had 800m.
