Press Conference in Milan
Today, the 42nd edition of the Saslong Classic race was presented in Milan as part of the introduction of "Dolomiti Classic".
To celebrate the occasion, Dolomiti Superski, the manager of the world's largest ski carrousel, invited dozens of media representatives from all over Italy to Milan. Dolomiti Classic is a promotion to combine lodging, lift ticket and entry tickets to all World Cup races in the Dolomiti Superski region. The Saslong Classic races belong to this group. This year, we'll have a super G and a downhill race. The super G will take place on Friday, December 20 and
the downhill will be, as usual, on Saturday (December 21). Delivering a super G race on the Saslong run is somewhat of a novelty that has only been done once before, during the ski season of 1983-84. The winner of that race was Pirmin Zurbriggen from Switzerland, who later went on to win a gold at the Olympics as well. The downhill will be filled with great suspense.
Last year Kristian Ghedina, currently Italy's strongest downhill racer, matched Franz Klammer's record of four wins on Saslong and he has made it his objective to be the first person to win five times.
